ENEMO Head: We aim to enhance trust in elections through in-depth monitoring
Ninety-nine accredited election observers from the ENEMO European network will monitor the 2024 parliamentary elections in Georgia.
Zlatko Vujovic, the Head of the ENEMO network, stated at a briefing with Georgian media that the mission’s goal is to enhance trust in the electoral process.
“We will observe the election process both in the pre-election context and throughout the post-election period. The main findings will be released one day after the election as a preliminary report. The final report will be published two months after the elections and will also include our recommendations,” he explained.
Zlatko Vujovic also addressed questions regarding a recent study published by the Georgian Dream, which mentioned ENEMO due to its inclusion of election expert Elene Nizharadze, who is associated with the PVT scandal.
“International and local election observer missions are distinct. An international mission means that individuals included cannot represent any entities from the country where elections are being held. Therefore, Elene Nizharadze will not be part of our mission. Our impartiality has never been questioned. We are external observers. We have no desire to participate or engage in the internal process,” Vujovic stated.
ENEMO’s mission is to promote civic society engagement in improving electoral processes, enhancing governmental transparency, and ensuring accountability.
