Emergency Situations Management Service Head: Disaster epicentres searched
The landslide-hit epicentres have been searched, said Temur Mghebrishvili, Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
According to Temur Mghebrishvili, the dead body of an adult male discovered in the debris on August 17, is transferred to the Kutaisi Samkharauli Forensic Bureau for expertise.
“Three bodies remain unidentified. We expect additional information at the end of the day,” he said and added that heavy vehicles are deployed in the riverbeds and the area of rescue efforts expanded.
The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality rose to 27, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.
Six people are still missing, and rescue efforts continue at various locations.
A deadly landslide struck the resort on August 3.
