Elguja Berishvili receives Pierre de Coubertin medal

Elguja Berishvili, the first vice-president of the Georgian National Olympic Committee, was honoured with the Pierre de Coubertin medal at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Paris office.

The medal was presented to him by John Coates, the first vice-president of the IOC and president of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport.

IOC members, high-ranking officials of the International Olympic Movement, Georgian Olympic Committee President Leri Khabelov, and Secretary General Emzar Zenaishvili attended the ceremony.

During the ceremony, John Coates emphasized the significance of promoting the Olympic movement and recognized Elguja Berishvili’s exceptional contributions to this cause. He expressed gratitude to Berishvili for his many years of fruitful work in the Olympic movement and wished him continued success.

The Pierre de Coubertin medal, established by the IOC in 1997, honours individuals who have significantly contributed to promoting the Olympic movement.

Berishvili is the first Georgian to receive this medal.
