Georgian Minister of Education and Science, Giorgi Amilakhvari, presented General Education Reform.
The Minister spoke about national education goals and stressed that his ministry worked on updating the national plan.
Giorgi Amilakhvari said that updated goals would be based on strengthening the national identity among pupils, promoting healthy values and raising patriotism awareness, Georgian traditions, culture and family values.
According to the Minister, the national goals would focus on the professional growth of teachers and the rise of their wages.
Giorgi Amilakhvari said that the 2024 education budget amounts to GEL 2 billion 508 million.
As the Minister noted, the wages of 70% of teachers will increase by GEL 500-700 on average. A ten per cent pay raise is planned for the administration staff and a 10-50% rise for technical personnel. Schools will have a certain autonomy to decide on different issues independently.
The ministry will define education policy only.
