Education Minister announces launch of unprecedented wage rise formula for teachers

Georgian Minister of Education and Science Giorgi Amilakhvari announced that a new formula aimed at unprecedented salary increases for teachers will be implemented starting July 1, 2024.

An average rise will be GEL 500. The Minister denied the reports that teachers’ wages would be increased from September 2024 if they upgraded their status.

“We would like to call on all stakeholders to join us in this unprecedented and historic pay rise reform process. This will ensure that all teachers, regardless of their status, receive increased, decent pay to offer better and quality education to our children,” he said.
