“From July, all public school teachers in Georgia will see an average GEL 500 salary increase,” Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Minister of Education, announced during his speech in Parliament.
In addition to the pay rise, Minister Amilakhvari highlighted the approval of a new document outlining the national goals of general education.
“This document, approved for the first time since 2004 after extensive discussions and engagement with the school community, emphasizes the importance of fostering patriotism, national spirit, national identity, state thinking, respect for the family institution, and universal values among school students,” the Minister noted.
Furthermore, the Minister initiated steps to strengthen the autonomy of general educational institutions, aiming to grant schools more academic freedom.
Another significant development mentioned by Minister Amilakhvari is the launch of professional programs in 20 public schools. This initiative will enable graduating students to master their desired professions within the school.
