Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili Friday vowed to execute the currently stalled Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.
The Minister said the government holds an international research-based program to develop the said project.
Davitashvili mentioned several potential investors interested in this very project.
“We have prepared several programs on how to develop Anaklia. It includes several elements; the issue of resolving arbitration disputes among them, and finally, we will implement this project,” Levan Davitashvili asserted.
The Georgian government canceled its contract with the Anaklia Development Consortium in 2020. Then Infrastructure Minister Maia Tskitishvili said the consortium had not fulfilled its obligations to bring in investments for the project.
The Anaklia Development Consortium won a state tender to construct the port and signed a deal with the government in 2016 but faced challenges in attracting the $2.5 billion in funds needed to build the port.
