Economy Minister stresses importance of wage growth to well-being of people
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili claims that the country’s inflation rate is progressively declining compared to other countries in the region but Georgia is still far from the target level.
“In general, raising the standard of living is crucial for enhancing the well-being of the country’s population. It is possible to do this through wage increase, which is preceded by economic growth. We are aware of high inflation, but in comparison to other countries in the region, inflation in Georgia is progressively reducing. We are still far from the target, which is why the monetary rate is rather high to lower inflation,” Levan Davitashvili stated.
According to the Minister, salaries would grow if the country maintains robust economic development, which the government is working hard to achieve.
