Economy Minister: Over 500 jobs created by $80 million hotel and residence project in Tsikhisdziri

In a significant boost to Georgia’s tourism sector, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of a Pullman-branded hotel and residences at the Petra Sea Resort in Tsikhisdziri, Adjara region.

The First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, as long as Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of the Government of Adjara, and representatives from Accor Group and its brand Pullman, the project’s international tourism brand partners, and other officials attended the event.

“This is exactly how we envision the development of tourism infrastructure in the coming years. When we speak of ambitious plans to grow tourism in Georgia by 2028, including new accommodation facilities, we mean high-quality infrastructure that will allow us to attract visitors with higher purchasing power,” Davitashvili emphasized in his address.

The First Vice Prime Minister highlighted that the plans presented by the Prime Minister during the election program presentation are not mere virtual promises but are backed by concrete projects like the Pullman development.

According to Davitashvili, the five-star hotel and residences project will be fully operational by the end of 2028. The construction phase alone will create over 500 jobs, with an additional 250 permanent positions once the project is completed.

The project represents an investment of approximately USD 80 million. Upon completion, it will add new high-quality accommodation capacity to Georgia’s tourism sector. Davitashvili stressed the importance of additional new hotel complexes and, crucially, high-quality tourist infrastructure for further tourism development in Georgia.

“It is important for us to facilitate the influx of tourists with higher purchasing power into Georgia, which is a significant component of the country’s economic development,” Davitashvili noted.

The First Vice Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of sustainable development in tourism projects. He announced a transportation project aimed at restoring sea passenger transportation in the Adjara region. To this end, plans are underway to construct a pier and yacht club near the hotel complex.
