Economy Minister: Consortium of multiple partners to collaborate with state to maximize Georgia's interests in Anaklia Port
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, announced that a consortium of multiple partners will collaborate with the state to ensure Georgia’s strategic and commercial interests in the Anaklia port are maximized.
Davitashvili emphasized that the process is being handled with the utmost responsibility.
“We are currently engaging in discussions with our strategic partners, including direct communication. The consortium comprises several companies, including reputable Chinese international shipping lines and subcontractors. This complex ecosystem aims to develop the port to the highest standards, taking into account Georgia’s strategic and commercial interests. It will take a few more weeks of dialogue to address the issues mentioned publicly so that the accepted proposal fully aligns with our tender requirements. If this occurs, we will announce the winner and proceed to work on a cooperation agreement with them,” Davitashvili said.
Regarding the international tender for marine design and construction works at Anaklia Port, Davitashvili highlighted the collaboration with international consultants. He noted that a Belgian international engineering company has been hired as a consultant for the construction part, and detailed work is ongoing.
“We are collaborating with international consultants. As you know, we have engaged a Belgian international engineering company to advise us on the construction project. They are currently finalizing the details. We anticipate this process will take another week or two. The work is progressing intensively, and we are committed to achieving high-quality results in all aspects of the project,” Davitashvili concluded.
