Levan Davitashvili, Georgian First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development attended the opening of the Grand Jury Du Vin Wine Symposium in Tsinandali, the eastern Kakheti region of Georgia.
The Wine Symposium offers the opportunity for Georgian wines’ to be evaluated by professional and competent experts in the jury including from China.
The Wine Symposium of the Swiss Association Grand Jury Du Vin is held in Georgia for the second time on October 4-5. Tsinandali hosts sommeliers, wine experts and Maia Omiadze, Head of the National Tourism Administration.
Levan Davitashvili said the wine symposium is a good opportunity and platform to popularize Georgian wines, viticulture and Georgia as a tourist destination.
“I think we should keep this format and Georgian wines should be tasted together with different prestigious wines every year, which will allow us to compare them and gradually position Georgian wines together with these wines on the international market over the years,” Davitashvili said.
The Wine Association, established in 1996, has been hosting the Wine Symposium for years at Villa d’Este at the Lake Como in Italy.
Georgia first hosted the event in 2023 in Tsinandali at the initiative of the Silk Road Group in partnership with the Bank of Georgia and since turned into an annual tradition.
