Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili announced on Monday that the government had decided to redeem the Khudoni HPP project after discussions with the investor company.

The project will be implemented with the active participation of the state beginning in 2023, according to the Minister.

Davitashvili believes that “such big, massive, energy, and strategic projects will be implemented in the future with the active engagement of the state.”

“This project had a specific value for the Georgia’s electric system, for the system generation in general,” he continued.

The 702 MW Khudoni hydropower plant (HPP) was proposed to be built on the Enguri River in the mountain region of upper Svaneti in Georgia.
