EC to announce decision on granting EU candidate status to Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine on June 17
The European Commission will announce its decision on granting EU candidate status to Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine on June 17, said Chief Spokesperson of the European Commission Eric Mamer.
“I read in the press that the commission yesterday had decided. This is completely untrue. The commission yesterday decided nothing. It held an orientation debate, which allowed the members of the colleague to express their thoughts and views on this issue in order to prepare for the decision, which will take place on Friday. Now, the colleague is preparing for the debate. The services are finalising the documents. There will be a meeting of heads of the cabinet on Thursday that will conform if everything is well on the agenda of the colleague on Friday, including this point. On Friday, we will have a debate and hopefully decision. This is a completely standard procedure we had before,” the spokesperson stated.
