EC points working group publishes action plan for judicial reform

A Working group on European Commission’s recommendations for Georgia has published an action plan on judicial reform.

The document covers the goals and objectives of the judicial reform, as well as a more in-depth analysis of the Common Courts’ system.

The group listed the following challenges:

  • Ensuring a reasonable number of judges and court officials to carry out assigned tasks and duties in due course
  • Solving the court overload issue by reducing the flow of cases
  • Enhancing the quality of court decisions and promoting the professional development of judges;
  • Improving the mechanisms for introducing the ECHR approaches
  • Strengthening judges’ social protection promises
  • Further strengthening of the jury trial system
  • Expanding the use of electronic devices
  • Providing a fully adapted environment for disabled people, as well as creating an appropriate environment for children
  • Enhancing the interpreter services.
