EC points working group publishes action plan for judicial reform

A Working group on European Commission’s recommendations for Georgia has published an action plan on judicial reform.

The document covers the goals and objectives of the judicial reform, as well as a more in-depth analysis of the Common Courts’ system.

The group listed the following challenges:

Ensuring a reasonable number of judges and court officials to carry out assigned tasks and duties in due course
Solving the court overload issue by reducing the flow of cases
Enhancing the quality of court decisions and promoting the professional development of judges;
Improving the mechanisms for introducing the ECHR approaches
Strengthening judges’ social protection promises
Further strengthening of the jury trial system
Expanding the use of electronic devices
Providing a fully adapted environment for disabled people, as well as creating an appropriate environment for children
Enhancing the interpreter services.
