A Working group on European Commission’s recommendations for Georgia has published an action plan on judicial reform.
The document covers the goals and objectives of the judicial reform, as well as a more in-depth analysis of the Common Courts’ system.
The group listed the following challenges:
- Ensuring a reasonable number of judges and court officials to carry out assigned tasks and duties in due course
- Solving the court overload issue by reducing the flow of cases
- Enhancing the quality of court decisions and promoting the professional development of judges;
- Improving the mechanisms for introducing the ECHR approaches
- Strengthening judges’ social protection promises
- Further strengthening of the jury trial system
- Expanding the use of electronic devices
- Providing a fully adapted environment for disabled people, as well as creating an appropriate environment for children
- Enhancing the interpreter services.
