The draft-bill about Drug Policy was discussed at the working meeting of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee held at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel today.
Decriminalization of consumption of drugs, abolishment of prison sentence and imposition of administrative punishment are envisages by the proposed changes. Punishment will become stricter for drug sellers. Passage regarding doses of drugs will be also reconsidered in the law.
The draft-bill was prepared by the Parliamentary Health Committee together with non-governmental organizations. All sides agree that drug policy should be liberalized. However, there are some issues, which remain disputable. The discussions continued during 7 hours.
