Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary-General of North-Atlantic Treaty Organization, who has a series of 70th-anniversary events in Washington this week, including an address to a joint session of Congress, will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
In announcing the meeting with Stoltenberg, a White House statement said that Trump and the NATO leader would “underscore the importance of the alliance as a bulwark of international peace and security,” and celebrate “the unprecedented successes of NATO, including the recently increased commitments on burden-sharing among European allies.”
“The strength of NATO is that, despite these differences, we have always been able to unite around our core tasks,” NATO Chief told reporters Monday in Brussels as reported by USA Today. “That is, to protect and defend each other.”
