Diverse civil activists founded Vote for Europe movement

The representatives from diverse civic sectors have established the Vote for Europe movement, launching the 100 Days to Victory campaign from July 18 to October 26 throughout Georgia and among the Georgian diaspora.

The Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili addressed the movement’s participants, emphasizing the critical need to align with European values and direction and criticizing the current government for deviating from this path and blocking Georgia’s progress towards Europe.

“Georgia chooses the path of development, freedom, and democracy at every major part of its history. This is the European way and European values, which are, first of all, Georgian values,” she said.

Zourabishvili criticized the government’s stance and actions, including their impact on Georgia’s relations with NATO.

“What is happening today in NATO, at the NATO summit, the statements that have been made, the suspension of financial assistance to our defence forces, seriously threats this country,” the President declared.

She stressed the importance of the upcoming October 26 elections, referring to them as a pivotal moment in deciding the country’s future. Zourabichvili called for unity and action to ensure that Georgia returns to its European trajectory, emphasizing that the elections are not just a regular campaign but a referendum on the nation’s destiny.

“There will be very little time after the election to fulfil what is written there. We have very little time to break out of these frozen circumstances, to return to our partners and convince them that we are back on track and that all the half-closed doors should be reopened. This is an inevitable task for us. We have no other way, no other alternative. We are many, united, and Georgia will win,” said Salome Zourabichvili.

A manifesto was read during the event, underscoring the desire of Georgian citizens to live in a free, fair, and democratic country as part of the European and Euro-Atlantic family. It highlighted the necessity for Georgia’s membership in these organizations to ensure security, prosperity, and justice.

The manifesto urged citizens to actively participate in the elections and support political forces genuinely committed to Georgia’s European future. It concluded with a pledge to vote and uphold the people’s will to choose Europe.
