Democracy, rule of law, human rights and media freedom weight on EU integration way, French FM says

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna says that democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights and freedom of the media will be decisive factors on the EU integration path.

The French Minister made this remark following a meeting with non-governmental organizations.

“Everybody in my country, the EU and beyond, was concerned by what was happening with the draft legislation in Parliament. We saw the rallies and demonstrations. We have been very openly supporting the fact that you have been pleading for better freedom and democracy. So the outcome is good.

President Emmanuel Macron, on the record, is expressing his support for this movement, a spontaneous movement by especially young people and the people of Georgia.

In the EU integration process, which may be a long path, democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights, and media freedom will be one of the key factors,” Catherine Colonna stated.
