Delegation from Turkmenistan visits MIA

With the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkmenistan Office, the delegation of Turkmenistan paid an official working visit to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The delegation comprised high officials of the Public Defender’s Office, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Mejlis (Parliament), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Officials of the Temporary Detention Department, Migration Department and International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs hosted the delegation.

The visit aimed to get acquainted with the cooperation of the relevant structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the National Preventive Mechanism (Department) at the Public Defender’s Office.

The delegation of Turkmenistan was also informed regarding the existing regulations for detainees, services provided to them, legal status, and other issues. The sides pledged readiness to continue cooperation and experience sharing.
