Defense Minister says National Guards to get involved in rescue efforts
National Guards with special equipment will join the rescue efforts, said Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze.
According to the Minister, the defence forces of the Western Command Third Brigade will also get involved in cleaning works of the disaster-hit Shovi resort.
“We will start mobilizing in several hours,” he said.
“We have the appropriate equipment to arrive prepared, and we also have footbridges to use upon necessity,” Juansher Burchuladze stated.
The August 3 deadly landslide in the Oni municipality’s Shovi resort killed eleven people, with dozens still missing.
