Georgia’s Defense Minister, Irakli Chikovani, stated that the National Movement failed to avoid the escalation of the August war. He suggested that if the National Movement were in power today, Georgia would be engulfed in war.
The Minister made this statement at Mukhatgverdi Brothers Cemetery, where he paid tribute to those who died during the August 2008 war.
“The criminal nature of the National Movement was evident to our society during their rule. Their approach and attitude towards the August war were similar, and it was clear they failed to avoid the escalation, war that occurred in August. If the National Movement were in power today, we would be facing the flames of war. Currently, we have a responsible political force in power, dedicated to protecting Georgia’s interests and ensuring peace, which is essential for our country’s development,” the Minister stated.
