Defence Minister says Georgia's strength stands on soldiers' professionalism, patriotism
“Georgia’s strength stands on your professionalism and patriotism. Your work and everyday effort are vitally important for our country and its future,” said Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chkovani at the event dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces.
The minister focused on the high confidence of Georgian society in the army.
“Georgian army symbolises great respect and trust for all patriots. The institution enjoys the unwavering public support,” said the minister.
Irakli Chikovani remarked that the Georgian army adheres to historically unwavering values and continues the military traditions of its ancestors. He stated that Georgian soldiers proved their courage in the international peacekeeping missions.
Representatives of the executive and legislative authorities and diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia attended the event.
April 30, the day when the first conscripts were called up for military service in 1991, has been celebrated as the day of the Georgian Defence Forces.
