Georgian Ambassador to the United States, David Bakradze met with the member of U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Don Beyer (D-Virginia) and Congressman Adrian Smith (R-Nebraska).
The strategic partnership between the sides was discussed during the meetings.
Ambassador Bakradze emphasized loyal and reliable U.S.-Georgia strategic partnership and underlined Georgia’s important contribution to the fight against terrorism and ensuring international security along with the U.S. soldiers. Parties underscored expectation to further enhance bilateral relations in the fields of defense and security, as well as trade and economy.
Ambassador updated the Congressmen on ongoing successful reforms in the country and its attractive business environment, which is proven by the leading positions of Georgia in the reports of credible international organizations.
Ambassador Bakradze spoke about achievements on Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration path. He underlined ongoing Russian aggression against Georgia, including grave human rights violations and dire humanitarian situation in the Russian occupied Georgian regions, as well as he spoke about recently introduced Russian ban on flights to Georgia.
Parties underscored expectation to further enhance bilateral relations in the fields of defense and security, as well as trade and economy. Mr. Bakradze underlined the importance of the Georgia Support Act, which was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives and recently marked-up unanimously by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and expressed hope for its timely adoption. Congressman Beyer expressed his support towards Georgia and further enhancement of U.S.-Georgia relations.
