Court of Appeals upholds ruling on Lazare Grigoriadis’ imprisonment
The Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the Tbilisi City Court on imprisonment as the restraint measure to Lazare Grigoriadis, a 21-year-old youth charged with attacking a police officer and causing property damage at the demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue on March 7-9.
The lawyers demanded the youth’s release on bail.
“We have not yet received the decision of the Court of Appels in the written form. When we have it, we will examine why the Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the City Court and why it was not changed,” said lawyer Tatia Manezhashvili.
According to the investigation’s findings, 21-year-old Lazare Grigoriadis threw stones and so-called stones Molotov cocktails at police officers during the demonstration, injuring law enforcement officers.
The investigation determined that the defendant set fire to a vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was imprisoned as a preventive measure based on the decision made by Tbilisi City Court on March 31.
