Convicted of Freddie Woodruff's murder demands revision of his case

Anzor Sharmaidze, convicted of the 1993 murder of Freddie Woodruff, an employee of the US Embassy and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), is seeking to review his case and grant the victim status. Anzor Sharmaidze, who was tried in 1994 for the murder of Freddie Woodruff, appealed to the prosecutor’s office.

Anzor Sharmaidze did not comment to the media, while his lawyer, Archil Berianidze, said that Sharmaidze had been unjustly serving a sentence of 15 years.

“We did not say who could have been the alleged killer and so on. Anzor Sharmaidze does not have any information about it, because he has no idea what happened during that period. He was arrested and sat in jail unjustly “, – the lawyer said.
