Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary says GD's judicial reform strategy disregards system's underlying flaws

The Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary claims that the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party’s court reform strategy and action plan ignore fundamental, crucial flaws in the system and pose a significant threat to Georgia’s European integration process.

According to the statement, the GD-proposed paper “says nothing about consolidation of power and informal influences, dismisses rising criticism of local groups and foreign partners, and just delivers limited or fragmented topics.”

The Coalition of non-governmental organizations conducted a news conference at the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).

Court reform is one of the 12 priorities proposed by the European Commission. A parliamentary working group is presently focusing on the judicial reform bill.
