Cleaning works at Kintsvisi Monastery Complex

Mountaineer Giorgi Gujabidze’s group carried out cleaning works of pipes from leaves and mud below the roof at the Kintsvisi Monastery Complex at the instruction of the Georgian National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation, the Ministry of Culture reported.

The accumulated leaves and mud hindered the drainage and damaged the frescos in the church.

Kintsvisi Monastery Complex is located in the Shida Kartli region, eastern Georgia, 10 kilometres from the Kareli town, on a forested slope of a high mountain of the Dzama valley.

Its main church is an exceptional example of a brick church from the Georgian Golden Age period.
