Tbilisi City court delivered a verdict on the so-called photographers’ case. Based on the ruling, the General Prosecutor’s Office has to pay the moral damage compensation to photographers.
In 2018, the Appeals Court acquitted the photographers charged with spying for Russia. Photographers Giorgi Abdaladze, Zurab Kurtsikidze, and Irakli and Natia Gedenidze were arrested in July 2011 after shooting and broadcasting images of the violent dispersal of the May 26, 2011 rally in Tbilisi.
The Prosecutor’s Office under the Georgian Dream leadership said the photos showed how the former government used violence against peaceful protesters.
