Citizen of Russia detained for drug crime in Tbilisi

Police have averted the fact of drugs selling in especially large quantities – Mamuka Chelidze, Head of Organized Crime Department of Central Criminal Police of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said during a briefing today.

According to Chelidze, employees of criminal police department of Gldani-Nadzaladevi district of Tbilisi detained citizen of Russia S.Z. (DoB 1988), who used to sell drugs through the Internet and mobile applications.

Investigation has established that the detainee visited Georgia and stayed here for 5 days each time during his several trips in the last three months. He kept drugs on different territories of Tbilisi, took photos, numbered the places and provided customers with information about their whereabouts. The investigation has also revealed that the citizen of Russia used a total of 1709 locations to keep the drug.

During the investigation police seized large amount of hidden hashish. The investigation is underway under the Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase, storage and selling of drugs in particularly large quantities).
