We saw a positive picture in general at presidential elections – Christian Urse, Head of Council of Europe’s Tbilisi Office said in an interview with First Channel.
Urse said that now it was important to be sure that the second round of polls would be held in a peaceful, democratic and transparent environment.
“We all paid attention to the evaluations of international election observer missions, new topics which they raised and specific issues including the shortcomings that have to be tacked,” Urse stated.
The second round of presidential polls will be held in Georgia following the October 28 first round of elections. Based on the latest data of the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC), Salome Zurabishvili received 615 433 votes – 38.64%, while Grigol Vashadze, presidential candidate of National Movement – 37.74 % of votes (600 970 votes).
