The Central Election Commission (CEC) and local NGOs signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday.
According to the CEC press office, the signatories agree on a definition of Articles 45, 48, and 49 of the Election Code on Administrative Resources and acknowledge that they will follow them throughout administrative and judicial processes.
As CEC Deputy Chairman Giorgi Sharabidze stated, “This is an essential practice that has been in place since 2010 and has been a tradition in every subsequent general elections.”
Several local observation organisations that registered for the October 26 elections signed the memorandum today, however, the document signing will be open, and everyone who registers will be able to participate.
