The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia responded to the media reports regarding the “Smartmatic” company that builds and implements electronic voting systems.
The CEC says according to “Smartmatic, the dispute is not against the company, but those being fired from “Smartmatic”.
“Although the blame addressees did not have any formal or legal contact with the CEC, there is an attempt to speculate on this topic and associate it with the Election Administration in a negative light, which is baseless.
The media report cannot affect the upcoming October elections and cannot cast doubt on the efficient operation of election equipment.
In addition, we remind you that last year, the American audit organisation Pro VV performed an audit and concluded that Georgia’s election technology is in full compliance with local legislation, and international standards.
As of today, the mentioned company operates in one of the largest constituencies in the USA, some Canadian provinces, Belgium, Estonia, Argentina, Australia, Albania, Bulgaria, Armenia, etc. technological support,” reads the statement.
