CEC Chair: Today is historical; elections held, modernisation stage accomplished
The Chairman of Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Giorgi Kalandarishvili hailed Saturday’s parliamentary elections as “historic,” marking the country’s first large-scale use of electronic voting machines.”
“We can confidently say that this stage of election modernization has been successfully implemented,” Kalandarishvili said, noting that voting proceeded in a “peaceful and free environment.”
The CEC Chairman acknowledged the collaborative effort behind the electoral process, praising voters, election observers, and media organizations for their roles. “Both local and international organizations made a special contribution to the successful conduct of the elections,” he said.
Kalandarishvili also emphasized the media’s role in providing comprehensive coverage throughout both the pre-election period and election day. He extended gratitude to international partners, local organizations, and voters for their civic engagement.
