CEC Chair deems allegations of being influenced by GD as groundless
“The allegations as if the election administration is under any influence of the ruling party are groundless,” said Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) in response to the question drafted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
According to the CEC Chair, he personally met EP representatives but had not heard any hints of being biased, adding “such messages and information came from the country.”
“The CEC, as an institution, will continue transparent and public activities providing all mechanisms for the process to be accessible and inclusive,” Kalandarishvili said.
The CEC Chair went on to say that the election administration representatives provided European partners with information about the CEC activities and would continue “close cooperation” with both local and international observers.
“We will keep the constructive exchange of information and verification of other issues. The institution is open and will be in the future that will allow them to draw correct conclusions,” he said.
