Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II congratulates GPB First Channel on its new building
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II congratulates GPB First Channel on its new building, noting that “GPB has a remarkable history of almost 100 years in radio broadcasting and 68 years in television broadcasting.
“During this period, major changes occurred in the country’s existence, our people faced several challenges, and the First Channel served as the biggest chronicler of current events.
It should also be highlighted that, despite political pressure and severe supervision by the atheistic regime, it was able to promote patriotic themes and popularise Georgian literature and culture for decades, which should be commended.
The Public Broadcaster’s contribution to enhancing the degree of education in the social, cultural, and cognitive directions, as well as promoting awareness of our multi-colored community, should be appreciated.
However, there is still much to be done, including bringing Georgia’s historical diasporas and Georgians living abroad closer to their homeland; for the formation of correct thinking and orientation in our population, because it is difficult for some people to take the right steps in these difficult times.
You have an excellent opportunity to serve as a guide for others, which is a highly honourable and responsible mission,” reads the letter.
