Michael Roth, Chair of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, met with his Georgian Counterpart Nikoloz Samkharadze.

As Michael Roth wrote on Twitter, the discussion was sincere, focusing on Georgia’s path toward European Union. Roth emphasized that Georgia belongs in the European Union, but acknowledged that significant work lies ahead for both the government and parliament of Georgia.

“Thank you for the frank and open discussion with my counterpart Nikoloz Samkharadze. We agree that Georgia belongs in the European Union but a bumpy road with a lot of work lies ahead. The Georgian people deserve the candidate status but now it’s time for the government and parliament to deliver,” Michael Roth tweeted.
