Bidzina Ivanishvili – Democratic values take roots more rapidly than economic growth
“I was not very much pleased with comeback into politics. But making this step was essential,” Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia Party and former Prime Minister of Georgia said in an interview with “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze” Program of First Channel.
Ivanishvili talked about reasons of his political comeback. He explained that Georgia was unprecedented country when democratic values were approximated to those of Western Europe under conditions of small economy of ‘poor country.’
According to Ivanishvili, people took use of freedom of expression and the number of people who talked about problems increased respectively. He said that media was also exaggerating but this was better than be limited.
“Economy development cannot outrun democratic values. . . Many did not have jobs, could not afford paying tuition fees to children and were left with empty refrigerators,” he said.
“Holding the situation at stable was important and this required additional resources in my representation,” Ivanishvili stated.
