Basel City in Switzerland will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG SSR and the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) have just revealed the host city of the ESC’s 69th edition.
“The EBU is thrilled that Basel has been selected as the Host City for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The Contest was born in Switzerland in Lugano back in 1956 and it’s great to be bringing it back to its birthplace almost 70 years later,” the EBU said.
Switzerland won the right to host the 2025 ESC after its representative Nemo won Malmö 2024 with the song The Code, which tells the story of coming to terms with their non-binary identity.
The 2025 ESC will be held with its permanent slogan United By Music. The Semi-Finals will be held on May 13 and 15, while the Grand-Final – on May 17.
Twenty-five countries have expressed their interest for participation in the contest, which is subject to change. This year Montenegro is returning to the popular musical contest.
