President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev claims the “brotherly relationship between Georgia and Azerbaijan spans centuries.”
“This is a good foundation for the development of our multi-sphere relationship, characterized by dynamism,” Aliyev underscored after the meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday.
“We have a great track record of implementing joint projects, including in energy and transport areas. These projects have changed the regional situation in terms of politics, economics, and transportation,” President noted.
Aliyev stressed the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) for the Caucasus and regional development, stability, predictability, and cooperation. “It would have been impossible without our cooperation,” Aliyev said.
President of Azerbaijan thanked Georgian PM for non-stop support of the projects.
“Azerbaijan is still one of the largest investors in the Georgian economy. That is a credit to the reforms implemented in the country, thus creating a positive and favorable investment climate. I am aware that many Azerbaijani companies want to work in your country, and I hope that will happen,” Azerbaijani President added.
Georgian PM will also meet his Azerbaijani counterpart Ali Asadov and Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova following his meeting with Ilham Aliyev.
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani is among the Georgian delegation members. He will meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart.
