Armenian Defense Minister visits Georgia, meets Georgian counterpart

Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan is currently on an official visit to Georgia. The Georgian Minister of Defence, Irakli Chikovani, hosted the guest, the Defence Ministry reported.

The two ministers held a face-to-face meeting following the official welcoming ceremony. Discussions centred on the importance of maintaining strong, friendly relations between neighbouring countries and ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The ministers also highlighted the strategic partnership declaration signed in January, which aims to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.

During an extended meeting, they reviewed the 2024 bilateral cooperation plan between the defence agencies of Georgia and Armenia, a document signed earlier this year during Chikovani’s visit to Armenia.

Following the discussions, Minister Papikian honoured fallen soldiers at the Heroes’ Memorial, paying tribute to those who died in the battles for Georgia’s territorial integrity. The visit will also include a meeting between the Armenian Defence Minister and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
