Orozmani International Archaeological Expedition has discovered a mandibular tooth of the earliest Homo in soil layers dating back to 1.8 million years ago, the Georgian National Research Center of Archaeology and Prehistory reported on Thursday.
The first archaeological excavations in Orozmani in 2021 unearthed stone tools made by the ancient inhabitants of Eurasia (Homo erectus), and extinct animal remains.
The discovery is of world importance as Orozmani and Dmanisi represent the centre of the inhabitance of the earliest human (Homo) beyond Africa.
