American gastroenterologist: Cachexia to be ground for Saakashvili's release
Tbilisi City Court is questioning American gastroenterologist Stuart Finkel over ex-president Mikheil Saakashvil’s jail term postponement.
Speaking on the diagnostics, Finkel noted that Saakashvili has erosive gastritis and a hiatus hernia. Saakashvili, according to him, had not had a stomach biopsy, “which was necessary in this situation. ”
Finkel claims that Saakashvili developed absorption, and cachexia after starting hunger strikes. He believes “Cachexia is the ground for his release.”
“From my perspective, these illnesses started to develop following his arrest and the symptoms were apparent in late November 2021,” he added.
