Altercations heard at plenary going as MPs debate Transparency of Foreign Influence Bill Noise and verbal altercations were heard at the plenary sitting of the Georgian parliament, which is debating the Georgian Dream-table bill on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
The tensions went high a few minutes ago. MPs Levan Khabeishvili and Giorgi Vashadze declared they would not allow the majority leader and today’s chief rapporteur, Mamuka Mdinaradze, to take the floor. Mdinaradze responded that he did not plan to address the lawmakers since he had spoken about the amendments for several hours.
The opposition and ruling party MPs engaged in verbal assaults. The Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, decided to remove Vashadze and Khabeishvili from the session hall.
The Speaker also asked MPs Tina Bokuchava, Tamar Akubardia and Tamar Kordzaia to leave. Shalva Papuashvili called for peace several times and urged the MPs to allow the parliamentary majority deputies to deliver their speeches.
