Actor Giorgi Giorganashvili (nicknamed Bakhala) has been sentenced to 8 years in prison. The court trial into Giorganashvili’s case was held earlier this afternoon. The verdict was made under the background when liberalization of drugs policy acting in the country is being discussed actively.
Giorganashvili was detained in the courtroom. The actor was found guilty on charge of purchase and possession of large amount of drugs. However, the dose, which the accusatory side considered as being ‘large amount,’ remains arguable.
The actor, who was previously released on bail 6 months ago, will now have to serve prison sentence. Today’s court decision was followed by noise and brawl. Two people — Tornike Bziava and Beka Tsikarishvili — were detained by the court’s resource officers after the completion of the trial of actor Giorgi Giorganashvili.
According to the resource officers, the motive for the detention was verbal insult committed by the abovementioned persons in the court yard. In addition, Beka Tsikarishvili and Tornike Bziava threw bricks at the door of the City Court.
The incident took place after the judge sentenced Giorgi Giorganashvili to 8 years in prison. Beka Tsikarishvili and Tornike Bziava were arrested under the administrative rule. Bziava was fined with 500 GEL. The court process of Tsikarishvili will be held on January 24.
