I am glad that the dialogue took place – Acting US Ambassador to Georgia Elisabeth Rood said after the meeting held between representatives of the ruling party and opposition at Biltmore Hotel in Tbilisi with participation of Diplomatic Corps.

Acting US Ambassador said that many versions of election models were considered during the meeting and that the sides agreed to continue discussions.

“We had the expectations and hope that discussion would begin for the restoration of trust and for resolution of problems that we are facing today. I am glad that our expectations were met and the dialogue took place,” Rood said.

The Acting US Ambassador also said that the international partners were ready to continue supporting the parties in the process.

The so-called German Model of elections was the main topic for discussions between representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party and opposition. The Georgian opposition sees the adoption of the German Model of election system as the way out of the current political crisis in the country. Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps attended the meeting, which continued for about 6 hours.
