Six people died in two separate avalanches in the Austrian Alps, BBC reports.

Five citizens of the Czech Republic were killed in the mountainous Dachstein region, about 80km from south-east of Salzburg. The avalanche hit about 2,800m up.

In a second incident, a 33-year-old police officer died in an avalanche in the southern Carinthia region.

Mote than 100 rescuers tried to recuse them, but tourists could not survive.
