According to the Roads Department of Georgia, on the 132 km -135 km section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road, the construction of the 2km-long tunnel was completed.
The new tunnel was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the Chair of the Roads Department Irakli Karseladze, the majority MP of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region Zakaria Kutsnashvili, Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region Shalva Kereselidze and representatives of local government.
The new 1,7 km-long tunnel was built at the intersection section of the Dariali and Devdoraki Gorges.
The project was funded from the state budget, and it cost 51,892,174.44. Construction works were started in May 2017.
140 people were employed within the project.
