16 persons have been detained in connection with the release of secret recordings depicting private life, – Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimer Bortsvadze stated about it at the briefing.
According to him, the investigation found that the detainees had been massively keeping and spreading video recordings showing private life via social networks and mobile internet applications.
“The Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched the investigation into the fact of disseminating the video footage of private life. As a result of operative-investigative actions, 16 persons have been detained under the first and second parts of Article 157 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Both possessions in any form and release of such recordings (including via mobile application) lead to imprisonment between 4 and 8 years.
We call on the public not to get engaged in criminal activities and stop spreading any similar videos. Otherwise, the law enforcement agencies will take measures envisaged by law, – Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
