144 persons held criminally responsible for violation of restraining order

The 144 persons were held criminally responsible for violation of a restraining order during the 6 months of 2019 – Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.

The MIA says that it continues carrying out a strict policy to prohibit an individual from carrying out a particular action, especially approaching or contacting a specified person into cases of family violence.

According to MIA, 5399 restraining orders were issued in January-June of 2019. The 3292 restraining orders were issued during the same 6 months of 2018.

The violators in 137 cases out of 144 were men, and 7 – women. The MIA calls on victims of family violence for timely notifying the police about the facts of violence to have the possibility to continue living in a secure environment and so that an assailant is not left unpunished.
