Zurab Pololikashvili: Due to COVID-19, global tourism may experience the largest decline since 1950

“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, global tourism may experience the largest decline since 1950,” said Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, in an interview with Handelsblatt.

According to Pololikashvili, 110 million jobs are at risk worldwide. He added that while choosing a tourist destination, travellers pay more attention to the quality of the country’s healthcare system.

The World Tourism Organization said international tourist arrivals could plunge up to 70% this year.
